What is Natamycin 5% Eye Drops 3ml used for?
Natamycin 5% Eye Drops 3ml is an antifungal eye drops used to treat certain types of fungal eye infections, such as fungal blepharitis (eyelid inflammation), conjunctivitis (pink eye) and keratitis (corneal inflammation), caused by susceptible organisms including Fusarium solani keratitis. Natamycin works by stopping the growth of the fungus.
Natamycin eye drops is indicated for the treatment of fungal eye infections only and this medicine is not used to treat viral or bacterial eye infections. Natamycin eye drops may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
What are the side effects of Natamycin 5% Eye Drops 3ml?
Like other medicines, Natamycin 5% Eye Drops 3ml can cause some side effects. If they do occur, the side effects of Natamycin are most likely to be minor and temporary. However, some may be serious and may require the individual to inform the doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.
It is pertinent to note that side effects of Natamycin cannot be anticipated. If any side effects of Natamycin develop or change in intensity, the doctor should be informed as soon as possible.
Natamycin can cause side effects such as eye discomfort, swelling, irritation, stinging, burning and redness. Some of the serious side effects of Natamycin may include conjunctival chemosis, eye hyperemia and eye pain. This is not a complete list of all side effects. What is the recommended dosage of Natamycin?

Wash your hands before applying the Natamycin eye drops. Shake the bottle well before each use.
To apply eye drops, tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Place a drop into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Apply light pressure for 1 to 2 minutes to the inside corner of your eye (near your nose), to prevent the eye drops from draining out. Allow at least 5 minutes before applying other eye drops.
To avoid contamination, do not let the dropper tip touch your eyes, fingers or any other surface.
What if you miss a dose of Natamycin?
If your physician has instructed or directed you to apply Natamycin eye drops in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses to catch up for the missed dose.
What if you overdose on Natamycin?
Any medication used in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Natamycin, wash your eyes with water and seek medical attention immediately.
